What are the possible causes of hot flash?
Several women think that the real cause of hot flash is the declination of the amount of estrogen. In some cases, it is completely substantiated, but not always. No one is completely sure what causes a hot flash. Yes, theories abound but no one can pinpoint the exact reasons even though numerous studies have been taking place over recent years.
One possible cause of hot flash has to do with the individual tolerance for changes in temperature. A study shows that women who have a low tolerance for temperature changes in the body's core temperature experience up to 50% more hot flashes than a woman who can handle a body temperature change.
During menopause, body's hormones are changing rapidly which could cause the brain to think that a body's temperature is changing. It then causes the nervous system to cool the body down. With this a person may start to sweat, sometime profusely.
In a study, women who can endure the change better have less sweating and only a mild hot flash.
